  • Delineate the factors contributing to the treatment gap in the acute myocardial infarction patient, as well as review the role of in-hospital initiation of secondary prevention strategies in reducing mortality and hospital readmission rates
  • Review the impact on clinical outcomes of beta-blocker therapy in the treatment of acute myocardial infarction
  • Review the most recent clinical trials of beta-blockers for the post-myocardial infarction patient with left ventricular dysfunction
  • Discuss the current utilization rates of beta-blockers in the post-myocardial infarction patient with diabetes, hypertension, and other co-morbidities
  • Discuss the role of critical pathways in the treatment of acute myocardial infarction
  • Provide a comprehensive treatment algorithm and consensus document for the management of the high-risk, post-myocardial infarction patient with left ventricular dysfunction
